After the necessary measures have been taken to stabilize the patient, the three primary goals of treatment are: correcting metabolic acidosis, preventing additional metabolism of ethylene glycol and methanol to their toxic metabolites and, if necessary, removal of poisons and metabolites with hemodialysis. ^{6, 12}
